Marans were developed in France during the mid 1800's. They are a dual purpose bird. They are known for their dark brown eggs. They are fast growing. The French wheaten is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful of all the marans. The hens have a beautiful "pink" color to them. This is a very rare and sought after breed. These are French, which means they have fully feathered legs.

Joe and Beth's comments: The Wheaten's egg color is definitely just as nice dark as the Black Copper's. They hens are pretty birds with their creamy underbelly, pinkish in color. We could not be more happy with our Wheaten stock.
